Begusarai’s Kishan Kumar Claims Top Honors at Patna’s Prestigious Chess Tournament

Patna, September 28, 2025 – The two-day 6th QCGA All India Open and Under-15 Rapid Chess Championship was successfully organized on September 27-28, 2025, at Hotel Diamant Inn, Ranjan Path, Gola Road, Patna.

A total of 113 participants competed in this tournament, which was conducted in a 7-round Swiss format. Players from various age groups showcased their intellectual prowess and exceptional chess skills throughout the competition.

In the Open Category, Kishan Kumar from Begusarai emerged as the champion, followed by Piyush Kumar from Patna in second place and Aniket Ranjan from Begusarai securing third position. The Under-15 Boys Category saw Javin Jaiswal from Patna claiming the top spot, with Adarsh Raj from Gurukul Chess Academy, Muzaffarpur finishing second, and Krishang Kunal from St. Karen’s School, Patna taking third place.

The tournament also recognized outstanding performances across various age categories. In the boys’ section, Rudrash Shandilya won the U-7 category, Kiyansh Shresth from Queen’s Gambit Chess Academy triumphed in U-9, Ayushman secured the U-11 title, and Krishang Kunal claimed the U-13 championship. Among the girls, Vanishika Maheshwari emerged victorious in U-7, Kriti Sinha won U-9, Arohi Sagar took the U-11 title, Aruhi Raj from Queen’s Gambit Chess Academy claimed U-13 honors, and Shreya Sagar won the U-15 category.

Special recognition was also given to Arpita Singh as the Best Woman Player and P.K. Singh as the Best Veteran Player of the tournament. The event was organized under the guidance of Tournament Director Sanjeet Saurav, Organizing President Saurav Roop, and Chief Arbiter Shahid Hussain, whose efficient management ensured the smooth conduct of the championship.

The objective of this championship was not only to encourage children and youth toward the sport but also to infuse new energy into Bihar’s chess landscape. All participants, their parents, and the organizers played a crucial role in making the tournament spectacular and memorable, demonstrating the growing enthusiasm for chess in the region and providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills on a competitive stage.
