PATNA – August 18, 2025 – Local chess talent Vijay Kumar delivered a commanding performance to win the 5th All India Rapid Chess Tournament, which concluded this past weekend at the Hotel Diamant Inn in Patna. Organized by the Queens Gambit Chess Academy (QGCA), the event drew a competitive field of 200 players from across the region.
The two-day tournament, held on August 16th and 17th, saw Kumar dominate the competition, achieving a flawless 9/9 score to emerge as the undisputed champion. Fellow Patna players Sudhir Kumar Sinha and Ashutosh Kumar secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.
The event was graced by chief guest Shri Ajit Kumar Singh, President of the PDCA, who praised the organizers for their efforts in promoting chess at the grassroots level. “Events like this are crucial for nurturing young talent and strengthening the chess movement in Bihar,” he said while addressing the participants.
The tournament was successfully managed by Tournament Director Sanjeet Saurav, Organizing President Saurav Roop, and Chief Arbiter Shahid Hussain.
In addition to the main prizes, accolades were awarded to top performers in various age and special categories, highlighting the depth of talent present at the competition.

- Under-15: Abhishree Dipu (Girls), Adhyan Kheria (Boys)
